Cancer Antigen 125: a protein that  is elevated in the blood in about 70% of patients with ovarian cancer. It can assist in the diagnosis of an ovarian mass but is most useful when following the response to treatment or in detecting a recurrence in patients with ovarian cancer. Because benign conditions such as fibroids can cause an elevation of CA125, it is not recommended as a screening test for ovarian cancer.
