A radiologic test using sound waves to visualize the female reproductive organs. Unlike the trans-abdominal sonograms (TAS) that are done with a probe that is placed on the lower abdomen, a trans-vaginal sonogram (TVS) is performed with a probe placed in the vagina. The vaginal probe provides more detailed visualization and detail of the female anatomy.
